It happened again!

The other night I was tired, but I went out anyway, reminding myself that staying in to watch Netflix will result in exactly that -- a Netflix binge-watch on the couch and not much more.

First I met a former Wall Street colleague and dear friend for drinks.  We hadn’t seen each other in a long time and it felt wonderful to laugh and reconnect with her.  Already I was glad that I had made an effort to take the train into New York City on a cold winter night.  Already I was glad I’d fought past inertia.

Then I went to a restaurant, sat up at the bar and ordered dinner.  The man sitting next to me started making conversation.  Then his friend arrived, introductions were made, and before long the three of us spent the evening laughing and swapping stories.  At the end of the night one of the men says to me, “You have to meet…” and tells me about his female client who’s a television producer, who’s passionate about making TV shows about strong, independent women.  Four days later I was having dinner with her.  Now we’re exploring ways that we might work together.

See?  Get out there!  Talk to people.  Connect.  It just works.
